Spider-Man: No Way Home is an upcoming American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man. The film stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker / Spider-Man, alongside Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, Jamie Foxx, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Alfred Molina.

Andrew Garfield is worried that Spider-Man: No Way Home rumors will leave audiences disappointed with the movie. The third installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's trilogy of Spider-Man films is quickly becoming the most-anticipated MCU entry since Avengers: Endgame hit theaters in 2019, and fan expectation for what the film will deliver is through the roof.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is set to open the MCU's multiverse in all-new ways, and will see Peter Parker (Tom Holland) attempt to erase the world's knowledge of his secret identity with the help of a spell cast by Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch). However, when Peter messes up the spell and causes a merging of parallel universes, a new crisis threatens to unleash a multiverse of villains on Peter's world. Those villains are thus far confirmed to include Doc Ock (once again played by Alfred Molina), Electro (Jamie Foxx), and the Green Goblin (likely to be played by a returning Willem Dafoe).

With the multiverse confirmed to be transporting previous villains from both the Sam Raimi-directed Spider-Man trilogy and the Amazing Spider-Man duology to the MCU, fan expectation for who else might return from the previous Sony Spider-Man films is reaching a fever pitch. Not only are a handful of other villains rumored to appear, but the long-standing speculation that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will be reprising their respective Spider-Man roles has become accepted as an inevitable fact by many of the MCU faithful. And while it's still possible (even likely) that such cameos do occur, Garfield's comments about how expectations can ruin movies for audiences is a warning that viewers would be wise to heed.

With the possibility of any character from any previous Spider-Man movies making an appearance, rumors and speculation have truly run wild, with one of the most popular theories being that Doctor Strange's multiverse tampering is leading to the first cinematic appearance of the Sinister Six. This conglomerate of Spidey's greatest villains already includes three villains who are confirmed to appear in the film: Green Goblin, Doc Ock, and Electro. With the trailer for No Way Home supposedly including a brief shot of the Lizard from The Amazing Spider-Man, many fans are now expecting everyone from Sandman from Spider-Man 3, Rhino from Amazing Spider-Man 2, the Vulture from Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Mysterio from Spider-Man: Far From Home to make appearances.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is set to hit theaters on December 17.
